I. Call to order - Meeting began at 9:30am
II. Venmill Industries Disc Repair Demo - Sales representative Lucas Krohn gave the committee a demonstration of three disc cleaning machines ranging in price from $299 to $2,999. For further information, he can be contacted at LucasKrohn@venmill.com or 866.864.0210x38.
III. Minutes of the June 28, 2007 meeting - Georgene made a motion to accept the minutes of the last meeting. Miguel seconded the motion. Motion passed and minutes were accepted.
IV. Next Meeting Schedule - Susan scheduled the next three meetings. They are at 9:30 am as follows: November 1 at Jamestown, January 3 at North Kingstown and March 6 at Lincoln.
V. Next meeting topic - To be announced.
VI. Other
a. Susan mentioned a wake-on-LAN problem she is having with gx240's. She will post a solution on the LIT forum.
b. Rick briefed the group on the OSL office move. The staff is waiting for a Verizon OC-3 line to be put in. Time line has not been determined yet.
c. Deborah mentioned an issue with GX520's going to a black screen. Rick said the hard drive cable probably is loose and needs to be reseated.
d. Kristie asked if the Deep Freeze shut down message could be longer. Rick said the new version of Deep Freeze is better and could probably do this because it can schedule tasks.
e. Susan said she uses a program called Down Clock from Team Software Solutions to alert patrons to closing time and then shut down the computer. She will post the link on the LIT forum.
f. Rick - Next round of computers will run Windows Vista. But says he has documentation stating that it is allowable to downgrade to XP. Contact him to get a ghost image for the GX745s with XP.
g. Rick - OSL has requested $80,000 from Champlin to fund Microsoft Office licensing consortium-wide.
h. ChaiChin - Technology Summit on December 6th from 9:30am to 4:30am in Barrington. Sign up online on the CE portion of the OLIS website. Speakers include Jessamyn West.
i. Chris asked Rick if he had gone any further with a content management platform to connect OSL websites and boards together. Rick said that the Reference group was looking at Joomla. This project is on the back burner for now due to the OSL offices and servers move.
